How BoltLab classifies and verifies engineering data

Step 1 — Select thread system

    Hole preparation

    BoltLab's primary tap-drill value represents the pilot-hole diameter — the hole drilled prior to tapping. Hole geometry (through vs. blind) and hole function (tapped vs. clearance) are modeled in BoltLab's knowledge layer as separate, non-exclusive concepts, not as per-thread-size data available in this dataset today, so they are not offered here as a selectable filter.

    Thread engagement

    Thread engagement calculation is not currently available in BoltLab's verified dataset.

    Thread engagement depends on factors beyond the tap-drill value, including the required engagement length and engineering design conditions.
